Olweus Bullying
Prevention Program
Nearly one in five students experiences bullying in some way. Other students, called bystanders, are also affected by the bullying. Sauganash School has implemented the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program that is research-based in order to stop and prevent bullying in our house. We will do this primarily through having Olweus class meetings in addition to our Second Step social and emotional learning. In these meetings that happen every Friday after lunch, we will talk about bullying and how to help people who are being bullied. We will talk about how to be good friends. The meetings will help to build those relationships between students so that they trust each other and also trust me as their teacher.
The four rules of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program are shown below. All students in Room 204 are aware of the rules and have signed a pledge recognizing that they will always follow these rules.
